About Us

Phoenix Lifestyle Support Association Inc is a small, boutique, disability service specialising in providing one to one support to adults with intellectual and/or physical disabilities living in the Redlands. Phoenix Lifestyle Support Association staff have a passion for what they do. They pride themselves on providing support for people with intellectual and/or physical disabilities.


Phoenix Lifestyle Support Association started operations on 16 December 1999. The organisation was started by a small group of parents who had witnessed the support that was available to their children, living with disabilities and knew they could do it better. The values that were important to those parents at that time are still important to our management and support workers now. Phoenix LSA is a family-centred service that actively promotes respect, tolerance, integrity, trust and acceptance for all.

To Provide Personalised Care to Individuals with Intellectual or Physical Disabilities to Achieve a Safe, Secure and Valued Lifestyle Within Their Own Home and Community.

Services we Provide:-
We believe that it is important to promote independence and choice in the people we support.
We provide supported independent living, in-home assistance with self-care activities, support coordination and assist people living with disabilities access to community, social and recreation activities.

We strive to provide the best quality life for the people we support. We consider that every single person has something to offer the community and it is our role to provide opportunity for them to shine.

We offer 1:1 support so that people can fully participate in activities they enjoy. If you want to go fishing, we will find a support worker who knows the best place to catch flathead. If you want to go horse riding, we will find someone who is happy tramping through the bush alongside you and the horse. If going to the clubs is your thing, we have support workers who will put up their hands to take you there..

Our support workers are happy to provide support and transport to a variety of services, so if you need to go to a speech therapist, we can get you there. If you are needing to learn skills to use public transport, we can help you develop your abilities.

Any activity you are interested in will be explored, helping you to reach your goals, enhancing your lifestyle and develop skills.

We fully support the philosophy of the NDIS, that everyone is entitle to an ordinary life. We can help you organise your life so that you can live as ordinary as possible.

Our support coordinators are there to help you when you receive a NDIS Plan and have no idea where to start. They can assist you unpack your plan and find the best services that will help you achieve your goals. Living in the Redlands has given them contacts in the local area that might be just what you need.

Our Staff
Phoenix Lifestyle Support Association staff have a passion for what they do. They pride themselves on providing support for people with intellectual and/or physical disabilities. They are all qualified and have completed the NDIS Worker Orientation Module "Quality, Safety and You".

All staff have been screened for criminal history and hold a yellow card, allowing them to work with people with disabilities. Training for support workers is ongoing and includes augmentative & alternative communication, manual handling, positive behaviour support, incident management and assisting participants with medication. A number of our support workers have been trained in epilepsy management, catheter management and PEG feeding.

All staff are required to hold current CPR and Provide First Aid certificates.
All staff have completed the NDIS Commission’s Worker Orientation Module ‘Quality, Safety and You’ to better support people with disabilities.

Management
The backbone of the organisation is our manager, Wendy Ziegenfusz. She worked very closely with both Joyce and Ron Murray (founders of Phoenix) during the early years and returned to run Phoenix Lifestyle Support Association in 2013. She very passionate about helping people with disabilities live full and rewarding lives.

Wendy is supported in the office by Annette and Stephanie. Two very bright women who bring their experience as support workers into their roles in administration.

Sitting in the office next door, is our support coordinator, Robyn Torney. She spends her days muttering about price guides and where to find a good occupational therapist. Like all our staff she believes that disability is no barrier to enjoying a full and enriched life.

Our supported independent houses are run by our Key Workers and they are all competent, capable and passionate about making a difference in the lives of the people they support.

Management Committee
Our Management Committee is made up of a small group of dedicated volunteers who have a passion for changing the world, one small step at a time. They bring a variety of skills, including lived experience, health and safety and business knowledge to the organisation. Phoenix Lifestyle Support Association is a registered charity.
